Crazy Hexies part 1

I have been wanting to make a crazy quilt for forever and the only thing holding me back was a surplus of broadcloth and an incredible lack of velvets and satins. This Christmas I was gifted a box full of velours and velvets in burgundy, royal blue, forest green, teal and best of all black.
So I went to my go to site Pinterest and found several great patterns. In the end I settled on this one.
I need a nice mess going on to help the creative juices flow.

I forgot to take a photo but I have drawn a hexagon on the white piece of sheeting.

The first two before binding.
I have been trying my hand at free motion quilting and I have found it is not for the easily frustrated. The example above is my first half way decent attempt. Yipeee!
A little more free motion. Only two in the end because I am already irked.
Then I used nearly every decorative stitch my machine has in her.
I love the little ladies in the piece of pink trim below. Aren't they cute?
Mmm...black velvet and little typist.
The floral print below have been in my life forever.
Tulips and little dogs in these stitches.
Funny candy corduroy and blue velour.
corduroy from the 80's, vintage lace and ric rac.
So I ended up making ten crazy hexies before I ran out of black fabric. Here they all are. Drum roll please...
Now they need major embellishing. Hand embroidery and beads are in order now.
Then I must make more!

Baby it's cold outside

So I made a Christmas sign. Excuse me Buster. Tryin' to take a photo here.
I copied the idea from a pin on Pinterest and I am so pleased with the way it turned out.
The one problem is that it has created the most persistent earworm ever!
I cannot get that song out of my head.

Oh Deer!

Pinterest has inspired me again. No surprise there.
I am not one to put a dead animal's head on my wall, but a little faux bust I can go for.
This knit one is so cool.
I love the things that people do with knitting! ... mmm'n kay... nope still not feelin' the love.:
I think I may make this pillow at another time.
Oh Deer... No Sew Christmas Pillow. Home Sweet Ruby.:
Love this idea.
deerbustgold
but I didn't want to spend any money so I printed up this Deer bust
and pinned it to some red and black Buffalo plaid flannel
and cut out his glorious shape.

A little spray glue and a piece of wood I had been saving for something special
and I have this cutie to show for it!

Woodland Moss Apache Tears

I have finished another Apache Tears Afghan
I am calling this one Woodland Moss.

I'd rather have a crown like hers then ones with diamounds:
All of these inspiring photos below I found on Pinterest.

 :
I have them pinned on my  Muse-Woodland Color Board.

"A rolling stone gathers no moss" - Publius Syrus. A Latin writer who flourished in the 1st century BC.:

This is a great example of how cold marsh gray becomes warm when combined with warm shades of brown and bright orange..:

color scheme:

Love the color combinations!! -- Free Knitting Pattern: Level 1 Knit Neutral Afghan -- Lion Brand Woolspun Colour Combination: Charcoal, Oxford grey, Taupe, Linen, Fisherman, Avocado, Honey, Mahogany, Rust, Cranberry, Coffee w/ Claret for the border --- http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/L40245B.html?ss=&r=1:
Nature herself came up with the perfect combination of colours. Such shades of brown and orange will look bright on a grass-green background colour, as bri.:

I am thinking of starting another with similar colors but using blues instead of the Carrot and Claret.

Cute Sheep!

Candy confection kind of colors.

Frilly Degas Ballerina pastels.
Edgar Degas and his ballerinas.:
Here is a link to the tutorial I used to make these pretty flower squares.

I have borrowed the clothes pin idea from one of my favorite blogs Attic 24. It should help the next time I run out of yarn and can't remember the name of the yarn color I need.
Sometimes assembly line is the best way to go.
First the flowers then the square borders.
Crochet them all together.
Then I went to town with the outer border and trim.
Here is a link to the pom pom trim pattern. It is new to me and I love it! So simple and fun to work up.
