Tea Time Quilt

Happy Mother's Day to all of you Moms out there!
Especially my Mom.
She taught me how to sew, crochet, embroider and cook ( as well as many other things) and those skills serve me everyday.
We are both collectors and one of her many collections is Tea Cups, hence this quilt.
This fabric came my way (possibly from my Mom) and I knew I needed to fussy cut those tea cups and that sweet tea pot and make something for my Mom.

The black background sets off the color of the china so I added black sashing.
The Heather Bailey floral print brings out the pink and mint tones and the periwinkle solid matches perfectly.
All of the cups are pretty but my favorite is this one below.
I dove into my box of iron-on transfers knowing I had one that referred to tea and I was right.
So an embroidered center block had to happen.
The backing fabric is not a perfect color match but since it is on the back it still works I think.
I had to use it, I mean it has tea bag packets scattered all over!
This is the first quilt I have labeled, it feels good. I have to admit I really like this one.
Happy Mother's Day Mom this one is for you, I hope you love it.
I love you.

Under the Dome #6

We have a chocolate pudding cake this week.
Oh Yeah! Covered in ganache and toasted coconut.
 So good.

Her name is Pearl

She has a name and it is Pearl.
I wasn't sure if I was going to keep that name until I asked my niece's opinion and she said "YES!"
So today we have Pearl modeling a pair of khaki "Cargo" pants...
also khaki shorts and a reversible vest.
She also has on a sweet cream flannel shirt and tan shoes.
The shoes are an American Girl product and the rest of the ensemble I made including this fun hat.
I really need one of these.

She looks like a Pearl don't ya think?

Side window update.

I have such a nice husband. He made me a new shelf just the way I wanted.
 Clean slate!
I had a crazy concoction of books, boards and flower pots in that window just to make do.
I am going to add all of my colored glass pieces in here soon but for now I have too many plants that need the sunlight.
I have several pieces of art that my husband's cousin made and now they are all together on a real shelf.
I scored the aqua glass vase at the thrift store for 2 dollars.
Ahh... color makes me happy. So happy.
