Cabin with a View

I recently went along with Kevin to a small summer cabin up at our beautiful Twin Lakes. I was there just to stand at the bottom of his ladder while he repaired the chimney, so in between his trips up and down the ladder I took a few photos of the woods around us.

You can see just a bit of the lake from the cabin.

This tree had no pine cones on its lower branches, only at the tippy top. I was once told that cones only at the top means a big snowy winter is coming. I wonder if that's true?

Here is a shot of a pokey mossy sort of plant, it looked like tiny stars.

Doesn't this log look like a nice home for a woodland creature? Maybe a Gnome.

No one makes water gardens like Mother Nature.

Here is a fairy sized one.

Not a bad days work.

Sweet Stitches

Isn't this the sweetest little treat?
I "whipped" this one up in no time and it has zero calories although it is making me want to bake the real thing, Rut Roh!
Maybe instead I'll just stitch up a few more, which flavors should I use?
I had a ton of fun embroidering the frosting, just love doing swoopy curves.

Feeling Mossy

We have had day after day of gloomy gray and rainy skies, actually it's been more like weeks and weeks. I know that this is common to many of you but it is not common to us! We rarely get rainy weather here. I am wondering if it was all just to prepare us for our big trip to Portland, Oregon next month. The daily downpours have made my little garden so green and happy and today the sun decided to shine. It felt like summer today and here are a few photos of my happy little garden.

Hope your enjoying your day!

Prism of Fabric

So much for getting U.F.O's done. This shipment of fabric joy arrived yesterday! I had found that my fabric stash did not have enough solid/blender fabrics, so I made a big order. A treat to me for working so hard. Last night I washed and dried all the fabric and I spent this morning ironing and dreaming up projects. My favorite thing to do. Do you all see my problem? see previous post. It really isn't a terrible problem to have, too many ideas. I just need discipline, so back I go to my little spice Tink project. Oh yeah, my sweet hubby is making me bigger shelves for my fabric as I write this! Lucky Ducky I am.

A little bit o' spice

Here is a spicy sweet little fairy for a spicy sweet little girl. I embroidered the Tink first then decided to add the fabric around her to make the colors pop. Trouble is, I can't decide what to do with it. Should I make an apron? a pillow? a bag? I am going to go get busy right now and force myself to finish. You see, I have this little U.F.O.(Un Finished Objects) problem. I am really good at coming up with ideas and pretty good at starting them. I am not so good at finishing them. So I'm off, I think I'll put on Peter Pan for inspiration!

Cosmos a Web Star!

Cosmo's photo has been posted at the Katillac shack in honor of her efforts. Not the one above, the one I put up a couple of posts back. The picture above is my dear little Cosmo on a very happy doggy day. We were on an adventure in the sage. Her favorite place to be.
Check her out at this link
The other little dogs posted look much happier than Cosmo does. I am thinking it is because they look good in yellow. Cosmo prefers Red.
She still looks like a Star!

Sunset Glory

Kevin took this one in Bridgeport, CA on our way back from Tahoe. I remember I was freezing and I wished he would stop taking photos. I sure am glad he didn't stop, it's gorgeous. Totally worth a few shivers.

I took this photo right from our street, we do have some amazing sunsets.
Don't you think? I would love to see photos of your sunsets.
Send me some?

Cosmo gives to charity

Cosmo and I decorated a "Play Strong" scarf for Design gives back. We were thinking maybe some of your pups might like to participate too. I had a blast, we did a bit of a nature theme. Cosmo had fun until she realized she was going to model our scarf. She hates to get her photo taken! That is why she looks a little bit sad. Check out Kelee's fantastic site and decorate a scarf for abandoned pets. All you've got to do is send for a scarf, decorate it, put it on your pup and snap a shot!
Then send Kelee the photo by July 6th.

Dolly Madison Star

This is my first real quilt block. I have it on the hoop now and I am slowly hand quilting it. I am finding I don't have the patience and I may just switch to machine quilting. I have made many quilts before but they were all just tied together, not quilted together. The quicky method. I think this will end up being a pillow. I dont think I want to do a whole quilt with this pattern. Sewing all those little triangles together was fun but I think I want to try something different. I love the colors in this block, my favorites.

First completed Painting

I have started many paintings but this is the first one I have finished. I love the way the sky came out. I could live in that little cabin right there, no problem. I wonder if there is a lake or the sea just over that hill?

Pretty Big

I am posting this just so you can see a recent photo of Tanner, his back anyway. He and Kevin went to see how big the waterfall is, pretty big I'd say. I still can't believe how big Tanner is!

Lunching with a Coyote

This is one of the perks of being a Chimney Sweep in the mountains. Since we are outside most of the day we never know who will be stopping by. This coyote seemed just as fascinated with me as I was of him. Maybe he wanted my turkey sandwich?

My First Post, My Own Afghan

I realized that I had never made myself an afghan in the 30 years or so that I have been crocheting. I wanted to make something very cheery, easy/fast, and I needed to use up a bag of old yarn I had inherited. Granny to the rescue! I started my Granny Square Afghan by making squares with random color combos. I would start to get stuck in a rut every now and then and catch myself putting my favorite combos together, but over all I think it came out very unique. I love it actually. Now I have to decide if it needs a border around it. Oh yeah , I also have to tuck in all those little strings from my knots.
