Playing with Pinwheels

The project that I have been working on the last couple days is a Pinwheel Quilt for a baby. I was admiring an absolutely amazing quilt over at Red Pepper Quilts and I realized that Pinwheels are just squares cut in half diagonally to make triangles and then sewn back together with contrasting triangles, easy! Rita is a quilting genius, you should check out her quilts on Etsy. My attempt does not compare...I know... but it's my first try! :O)

I really wasn't sure this color combo was going to work but I actually like it a lot. It reminds me of Juicy Fruit gum.

My next challenge will be finding the right backing and binding fabric. The fabric stash I have is really not adequate although I have a hard time convincing my husband of that! I have so may finished projects I want to show you but I can't... they are gifts that haven't been mailed off yet and I can't spoil the surprise.
I have sent out one that I can show you as soon as it is delivered.I am so excited about it.
Hope you all have a great day.

Your pinwheel quilt looks wonderful, I love the fabrics you have chosen, the contrast in each pinwheel is really lovely. Thank you for the link, it is much appreciated.

I hope you find some nice backing and binding fabric, and look forward to seeing the finished quilt.

Jennifer, I think the quilt looks absolutely beautiful! I love old concepts with a modern flair to them. I like that the pattern is classic, but the overall impact incorporates contemporary patterns.

I'm always blown away by the talent shown by people who can do these things. I entirely lack the crafty gene! What I really find striking about quilts that come together and work is that no one element makes that sense of cohesion.

It's interesting, there's a visual magic to a successful quilt. I suspect you already knew that, but I didn't! Thank you for the pictures!

Rita- thanks for the comment! You are my idol.

Shimp- Thanks for the praise. I have admired the quilts others made for years but the tradtional patterns and colors didn't suit me. It wasn't until I started doing "my own thing" that I began to feeling inspired. I cherish your comments please keep them coming.
