Fireman's Picnic and Canoe Races

Hello all! Yet again I have let myself get busy living life and as a result my blog suffers from extreme neglect. I have quite a bit to tell you so I am going to have to make up for lost...or maybe gained...time and pump out some rapid fire posts. The holidays are well on their way and I have big crafty plans. Onward HO!

So...earlier this summer we attended the Fireman's Picnic and Canoe Races at Horseshoe Lake (one of our local lakes). Rugby was very happy to meet up with some great friends, human and canine.
The record snow we received last winter has melted and filled up our lakes...a bit too much! Check out that BBQ in the foreground.

The Mammoth Crest and our gorgeous clear blue sky always make a perfect backdrop.

The races proved to be quite comical as some folks had a hard time staying in their canoes...very tippy!

I loved the variety of colored canoes. You know...me and colors.

Big puffy dark clouds rolled in.

Dogs played fetch.

Kids played in the water and sand.
Everyone ate BBQ and Beer. As we left I thought I would get a shot of this...um...one of the things that make us Mammoth locals a little bit... wacky. Do you see that sign in the foreground in front of the Fireman's BBQ?

Here is a close up.

This area is a volcanic hazard but we picnic here...Crazy?

Rugby's Walk

Hi, this is Rugby here with the latest adventure update, I am writing this post today so you get the real story, from my point of view. I recently visited Lake Mcleod and like always my Mom tried to get me to enjoy a swim but I am not that kind of dog.

I mean look at that water... it is fresh snow melt! Brrr...
Nah! I don't think that is my thing.
Oh great there is a dog out in the water...Mom's gonna want me to go in.
Let's move on...quickly.

I did get to meet this new dog friend at Horseshoe Lake a few days ago. The squirrels and the other dogs are really the only thing I am interested in. I don't know why she wants me to play in the water.

Wait friend...don't go... nooo... not in the water! ;0( R

Picnic at Rock Creek Lake

A few days ago we decided to have a picnic dinner up at one of our many local Lakes, Rock Creek Lake. On the drive over a Ladybug landed on my leg...

We found a shady spot right by the water...

some clouds blossomed above...

Rugby noticed we had a visitor...

Ants always show up to picnics invited or not.

Rock creek lake is so peaceful...

Yeah, I think we are pretty blessed.

I hope you all get a chance to sit by a lake this weekend...or at least a hose sprinkler. ;0)Keep Cool my friends

The Roar of Snow Melt

Today we went up to our Lakes Basin to check out the waterfall. This is a shot from above the falls down onto Twin Lakes. Our little town is just below the lakes, less than ten minute drive.
We are getting some amazing cloud formations.Pooh Bear would be busy if he were here today. Big puffy white clouds that go on and on. This is a close up shot of the clouds above the hill that is in the background of the next shot.
Our Valley is pretty green today. ;-)
The sound of the waterfall is amazing... a roar. I bet the campers are loving it. The sounds of a rushing waterfall while you drift of to sleep. SMACK! sorry, mosquito woke me up! ;0)
To the right of this sweet little cabin there is still snow

Here is a shot of the snow and the waterfall side by side.
Strange don't you think?

I have a thing for colorful boats... they are so charming.
The mosquitoes buzzing up my nose are NOT!
The sky is a brilliant clear blue.
I think that little cloud looks like a baby bird... on a turtle's back... being chased by a pig.
Watch out for horses and tourists!
This lake looks more and more like a lake on the moon, if they had lakes on the moon, due to a little CO2 problem from the volcano. The trees here at Horseshoe Lake are dying.
It didn't look like this when I was a kid.
We still have quite a lot of snow in our mountains and you know...
they are still skiing at the resort!

I am sending you all a cool mountain breeze. :-)
