I am Pupless

See that sweet little black and white puppy at the top of the pile of pups? She became this beautiful dog. The best dog ever. She was a Christmas pup for many of our holidays together. She loved to sit on the stairs and look out over everyone downstairs. Her fur felt like velvet.
We had to put her to sleep almost two weeks ago and I haven't been able to blog since. I feel like if I just suck it up and write about it I can move on to blog about other things.
She spent 14 years with us, years I will never forget. I took this photo on our last "fun" trip in the car. She was such a sweet old lady.

My son was only 4 years old when she was born... he doesn't remember a day without her.
We have lost both of our cherished pets this year and we are having a terrible time without them. We feel like something is missing, like the house has a big hole in it. A giant empty spot where they used to lay. Good Bye Girls.
I would give anything to have your hair all over me again.
Good Bye Cosmo, you will always be my Doe'd... my Soul Dog.

The Mean Red's

Two days ago I came very close to losing my beloved Cosmo.
For those of you who haven't met her here is a shot...

We have had her since her birth in August of 1996. She is a Border Collie/Pit Bull mix and has been my close companion for nearly fourteen years. Cosmo,or as we call her... Doe'd, started to swell up and drool after her dinner on Sunday and she had to have her tummy deflated by the Veterinarian. We are so lucky we reacted quickly, she surely would have died. On Monday morning we made the decision to have her put down because of the doctors feelings the night before, so I was a complete wreck all day. I had a bad case of "The Mean Reds". Then the doctor called and said she was doing well and we could bring her home. She is a miracle dog! I have never been so relieved, I have my baby back. She is pretty tired though... I am so happy she is back in her favorite chair.
In a lame attempt to get my mind off things I grabbed my camera and took the following photos on my walk to the Post Office.
Spring is here!I liked the fresh red paint on this fire hydrant but just pretend that ugly pile of dirty snow isn't there...Spring struggles around here.
I couldn't leave you with that last ugly image so here is a photo I took the day of my dear cousin's wedding in Portland. She happens to be having a Birthday tomorrow
Happy Birthday Cuz!
I love you J

Pet Parade

We did it!
We were able to raise $2000 for abandoned pets at The Northland Pet Pantry150 "Play Strong" scarves were decorated in many clever ways and our sweet pets modeled them so well. Kelee Katillac and her handsome pup Oliver are an inspiration. Here is a photo of the scarf Cosmo and I made.

But we are not done! Head on over to the Katillac Shack and watch the Pet Parade Video ... its fantastic. Leave a comment on Kelee's post and another dollar will be donated. This project has been so much fun, thanks to all of you who helped.

Cosmo gives to charity

Cosmo and I decorated a "Play Strong" scarf for Design gives back. We were thinking maybe some of your pups might like to participate too. I had a blast, we did a bit of a nature theme. Cosmo had fun until she realized she was going to model our scarf. She hates to get her photo taken! That is why she looks a little bit sad. Check out Kelee's fantastic site and decorate a scarf for abandoned pets. All you've got to do is send for a scarf, decorate it, put it on your pup and snap a shot!
Then send Kelee the photo by July 6th.
