Purple is next

A whole bunch of purple fun has arrived.
Do you remember the crocheted flower I started awhile back?

It has become a rug.
A fabulous rug that doesn't seem to have an end.
"This is the rug that never ends, it just goes on and on my friends"
Now it is almost 4 feet across and my son has decided it will be moving out with him when he leaves the nest. I wish you could touch it with your bare feet. It feels so decadent and comforting.
7 rows of purple is next. Stay tuned, I might just start to make them for the shop.

3 afghans finished

A few more afghans all soft and ready to go!
I am calling this one "Pastel Ice".
It is a sweet baby or adult lap size ripple blanket
crocheted with a large hook so it has a loose supple texture.

"Granny's Blueberries" came together super duper fast
and it will be a Christmas gift for someone special.

This gorgeous beast of an afghan below is "Hugo".
I think have mentioned it before, it is inspired by the colors in the Martin Scorsese film "Hugo" and is 6'4"x 5'4".

Tan, black, teal, maroon, mustard, chocolate brown and turquoise.

Scrumptiously rich and for sale in my shop.
Of course as soon as I finished these three beauties, I started a new hooky project. This one will be a Christmas stripe. Oh yeah! It is that time of year.

We have several inches of new snow outside and a cozy fire in the stove, perfect project weather. Today I am going to sew some new curtains for my living room windows while watching AMC's Fearfest.
Yep...that is the plan. Hope you have some crafty fun too.

Lily House #2

Lily House has gained a few needed items and one permanent resident.
A gorgeous white scrolled bed arrived and a handmade black and white quilt.
Just as he was trying out the new quilt and testing the comfy coziness of the mattress, Gatsby heard someone coming up the stairs.  He thought it might be yet another potential roommate and he was right.
The worst roommate possible...Cruella De Ville. Luckily once she took a look at the kitchen appliances she left in a hurry, much too primitive for her.

Snow and Ariel stopped by again just to check in on Gatsby. He is pretty sure they will not be moving into Lily House anytime soon, seeing as how they both live in fabulous castles.

Sunbonnet Sue September

Hello old friends! I can't believe I didn't post even once during the month of September and now October is half gone. This seems to be a growing problem.I will have to do some catching up.

I have finished the last of the embroidery on 8 Sunbonnet Sue quilt squares that I have been working on a little at a time, during the summer months, over the last few years.

Sue and I go way back...
I have loved her since I was a little girl. It has something to do with my Laura Ingalls, Holly Hobbie, Anne of Green Gables obsession.
These blocks and I go way back.I bit off pieces to stitch and completed all of the like colored items before moving on to another color thread.
For instance, I decided I wanted the girl with the sporadic dots on her dress to be red right away so I embroidered her dress with french knots on every block before starting the green dress on the other girl.

Then I stitched all the purple flowers or all the yellow flowers before moving on.
Now the big dilemma is what type of design do I want to use to make this quilt top? Any suggestions?I am pretty sure I want to use the three fabrics in the top photo but I still need to find a blue calico print to connect them.

My Tiny Oasis

Hello everybody!
I have been having a great summer filled with fun, flowers and almost no blogging. It is time to catch up.
The Geraniums are having a bloomtastic year

and I am happy to say the birds have planted sunflowers Everywhere. They have great taste and always plant sunflowers in the perfect spot, which is pretty much anywhere. The Tomatoes are taking off!

The sweet peas and stock sweetly scent to whole area.
Red Columbine and Stock are in bloom.

A basket full of violas, can't go wrong there.

The dragon is in the mint.

Awww...just look at her.

Ruggie loves our garden as much as I do. I dig holes for new plants and she digs holes to curl up in and nap. She loves a freshly dug hole, all cool and...earthy.

Here is a bit of a flashback through the spring and summer.
Just to show how far we have come.

April 16th- sad little frozen garden with a depressing old fence. May 26th - Signs of life, solar lights and a new fence improve the view a little bit.

July 10th- Hubby finished the fence and gate and Rugby was released into the wild. ;0)

August 21st - One of my favorite things about Rugby is that she only barks when someone knocks at the door, never at passersby or other animals. She is the best.

The good girl in her garden.

We had a fabulous lightning storm last night and it rained heavy for awhile so today is all fresh and clean. The pine needles are falling, the kids are all back to school and Autumn feels near. My guys are out in the woods being lumberjacks and I am this years wood stacker so I better get busy. Free exercise and it keeps me warm all winter...good deal I say.
Toodles.

Meet Lily House

I would like to introduce you all to my newest hobby...Lily House.
She was a fabulous birthday gift from my husband last year and then over the following few months he graciously put her together for me. The biggest obstacle on my end was deciding in advance what colors to paint all of the pieces, a nearly impossible feat. I did my best to guess what I may want in the future and now I am painting it all over again. Figures!

Ahh...don't 'cha just love her? I want to blow her up to life size and move in. The living room will remain this shocking green but I think the bedroom upstairs needs something more...soothing.
There have been a few visitors but no one has permanently moved in at this time. Prince Charming has no plans to clean up the huge mess the painters left behind. You know...being a prince and all, I don't think Lily is nearly pretentious enough for him.
Rosie approves of the paint color in the bathroom but she needs a more open floor plan.
Pongo loves the new table and chairs that came all the way from the UK, his homeland. Now I just need to find the perfect sofa...

Festive July 4th

One of the best things about July 4th in our neighborhood is how the parade queues up just one street down from us.There is a festive community atmosphere and you may end up following a vehicle like this. The walk to the parade is always interesting and we see friends and family everywhere. Here is a quick tour of some of our Independence Day fun. There are a lot of patriotic dogs in Mammoth Lakes.

As always the parade was small town fantastic. As it finished up we meandered down to the art show and I bought a few new garden stakes after which we took Rugby over to Doggiepalooza at the pet store for some treats and water play. Then through the forest back home to some yummy BBQ. Then to top off the entire day perfectly we spent the evening with fabulous friends, food and bouncy house fun for a gaggle of kids. The view of the firework show from our friend's front deck is nothing short of spectacular and best of all we get to spend the night and save the drive home for the next morning. Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays and this year we even had some long time friends stay the weekend with us which made for even more adventure. I hope you all had a great holiday too!
